Amret reconfirms its commitment to client protection
Amret has successfully renewed its SMART Campaign Client Protection Principles (CPP) certificate, after receiving certification for the first time in 2016. The Client Protection Principles is a global initiative to ensure that clients remain at the heart of the microfinance industry and that microfinance practices remain responsible.
The renewal of Amret’s certificate was announced on 19 February 2019 after the mid-term review by M-CRIL, one of the Smart Campaign auditors. Amret’s reaffirmed commitment to respect industry-accepted consumer protection standards demonstrates its continued focus on serving its target clients – micro, small and medium enterprises and low income people – responsibly.
The Smart Campaign encourages MFIs to prioritize customer protection through adhesion to seven core principles, namely: appropriate product design and delivery, prevention of over indebtedness, transparency, responsible pricing, fair and respectful treatment of clients, privacy of client data and mechanisms for complaint resolution. All Advans Group subsidiaries endorse the SMART Campaign but Amret is the first to receive certification.
“Today we gladly announce that Amret continues to adhere to the CPP and has renewed the validity of CPP certificate until 2020. We, together with our staff and Directors, are proud to be one of the few 100 MFIs in the world to receive this certificate,” said Dinn Dos, Amret’s CEO.
“This CPP certificate is one of our numerous initiatives to contribute to a responsible and sustainable microfinance sector in Cambodia. We are committed to continue working in partnership with the Royal Government of Cambodia representing the National Bank of Cambodia, Cambodian Microfinance Association and other key national and international stakeholders to pursue successful financial inclusion in the long term” concluded Dinn Dos.
